Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a travel assignment to join our dynamic imaging team for a hospital in Glendale. This role involves performing advanced nuclear medicine procedures, including PET scans and DEXA scans, utilizing specialized equipment such as SPECT scanners and CT systems. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of radiation safety protocols, medical imaging techniques, and patient care practices to ensure accurate diagnostic evaluations. Responsibilities Schedule is 5x8's M-F, 40 hours per week. On Call every other weekend from 9a-5p Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for various nuclear medicine procedures, including PET scans and DEXA scans, adhering strictly to radiation safety procedures. Operate and maintain advanced imaging equipment such as SPECT scanners, CT systems, and other diagnostic radiology devices with technical proficiency. Perform diagnostic evaluations by acquiring high-quality images while implementing aseptic techniques and ensuring patient comfort. Assist with patient positioning, IV insertion, and providing detailed instructions to optimize image quality. Monitor patients during procedures, ensuring their safety through basic life support (BLS) protocols and physiological assessments. Document procedures accurately within electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and utilize picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) for image storage and retrieval. Maintain compliance with radiation safety standards, implementing protocols to minimize exposure for patients and staff. Collaborate with physicians to interpret imaging results, contributing to diagnostic radiology assessments. Ensure all medical equipment is operated correctly, calibrated regularly, and maintained according to manufacturer guidelines. Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology, including new techniques such as PET scan enhancements and physiology knowledge updates. Skills Proficiency in operating nuclear medicine equipment, including SPECT scanners, PET scanners, CT systems, and DEXA machines. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles. Experience with implementing radiation safety procedures and aseptic techniques in clinical settings. Ability to perform IV insertions efficiently and accurately under sterile conditions. Familiarity with EMR/EHR platforms and PACS for documentation and image management. Knowledge of medical imaging protocols specific to nuclear medicine procedures. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations. Technical proficiency in diagnostic evaluation processes and interpreting imaging results. Ability to work independently in a travel setting while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
