A Nurse Practitioner provides primary care and nursing care to patients. Performs physical exams, orders diagnostic tests, and provides medications. Works in a physician's office or other healthcare facility, under the direction of a physician. Performs work similar to that of a physician assistant but has different medical training and degree.
Full-time or Part-time We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our internal medicine team. The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to adult patients, with a focus on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic medical conditions. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, confident in clinical decision-making, and committed to delivering high-quality care in a collaborative outpatient setting. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations. Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, thyroid disorders, cardiovascular conditions, respiratory illnesses, and gastrointestinal concerns. Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory testing, imaging, EKGs, and other diagnostic studies. Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans. Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions within scope of practice. Provide preventive care, health screenings, risk-factor counseling, and patient education. Address urgent and same-day visits as appropriate. Maintain clear, timely, and accurate documentation in Practice Fusion. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, nursing staff, and administrative team members to provide coordinated care. Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up recommendations. Coordinate referrals and communicate with specialists and other healthcare providers. Assist with patient messages, medication refills, laboratory results, and chronic-care management. QualificationsRequired Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current and unrestricted Alabama Nurse Practitioner license. National board certification as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner. Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one. Current BLS certification. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills. Preferred At least two to three years of experience in internal medicine, primary care, or a related outpatient setting. Experience managing complex chronic medical conditions. Familiarity with Practice Fusion or a similar electronic health record system. Strong patient-education and care-coordination skills. This is an outpatient position with no call, weekend coverage, hospital rounding, or nursing-home responsibilities. Benefits are available for eligible full-time employees.
