Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program Current California Nurse Practitioner License required Current American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required Current ACLS Credentialed through Oroville Hospital Medical Staff office required Completion of crisis prevention training required Recent / previous work experience in acute care setting preferred Ability to problem solve Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity to patients, family and significant others of all ages Demonstrates reliability and flexibility with work schedule Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and the public Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Must have the ability to perform as a preceptor in the training of students and new employees, and the ability to act as a department resource and a positive role model
Duties & Responsibilities:
Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner functions as a provider and coordinator of direct patient care. The Nurse Practitioner performs tasks and services under the direct control and supervision of a state-approved supervising physician in accordance with the mission, standards, policies, and practices of Oroville Hospital. Duties Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures. Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as X rays, electrocardiograms, blood work, and interprets test results. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment. Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients, and records progress. Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations. Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. Assists physician, as required, for emergency treatment and more complex procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Lifting Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 40 pounds, transferring, repositioning patients, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions. Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.
