09/08/2026 Job Description Job Description Our newly opened urgent care is seeking a part-time/per-diem Nurse Practitioner / Physicians Assistant to join our team of dedicated individuals dedicated to providing the best healthcare service to the Simi Valley community. We provide high-quality medical care to patients of all ages ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics for non-emergent conditions. As much as we are dedicated to helping our community when they are sick, our urgent care provides wellness and IV infusion services to ensure our commitment to helping our patients stay well. Our full range of services include but are not limited to: DOT exams, telehealth, sports/work physicals, and travel medicine. Our clinic was born from the owner's dream to help people. We don't just run a business, we work every day to make a real difference in the lives of families in Simi Valley. New graduates will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced team, receive guidance as needed, and build confidence in managing a wide variety of urgent care presentations.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and minor injuries Perform comprehensive and focused physical exams for patients of all ages (pediatric through geriatric) Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including: X-rays Point-of-care testing Laboratory studies Perform common urgent care procedures, which may include: Wound care and suturing Splinting and minor injury management Incision and drainage (I&D) Foreign body removal (as trained/credentialed) Prescribe medications in accordance with California NP scope of practice Document all patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the EMR system Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff as needed for complex cases or escalation of care Ensure appropriate referrals to specialists or emergency services when indicated Maintain compliance with clinic policies, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations
Requirements:
Active and unrestricted California license Board certification as Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physicians Assistant Active DEA license (or eligibility to obtain) Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred depending on clinic) New graduates are welcome to apply; strong clinical foundation, willingness to learn, and commitment to patient care are valued Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred (urgent care, ER, or primary care strongly preferred) Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting Comfortable managing 20-40 patients per shift depending on volume Excellent communication and documentation skills
Schedule & Employment Type:
Per diem / as-needed coverage Variable shifts including weekdays, weekends, and occasional evenings No guaranteed minimum hours Flexible scheduling based on clinic needs
Preferred Skills:
Prior urgent care or emergency medicine experience Experience with EMR systems (Tebra, Epic, Athena, etc.) Ability to perform minor procedures independently Strong patient throughput efficiency while maintaining quality care
