Job Description

Nurse Practitioner (Eating Disorders) CEDAR Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Practitioner to play an essential role in the treatment and recovery of individuals battling various forms of disordered eating. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive medical evaluation and ongoing management for adolescents and adults with eating disorders while collaborating closely with therapists, registered dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver individualized, evidence-based care.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and evaluations for patients with eating disorders. Diagnose, treat, and manage medical and psychiatric conditions related to eating disorders within the scope of practice. Order, interpret, and monitor laboratory testing, EKGs, and other diagnostic studies as clinically indicated. Prescribe and manage medications while monitoring effectiveness and potential side effects. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with therapists, registered dietitians, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Monitor patients' medical stability and coordinate appropriate levels of care when necessary. Provide education and support to patients and families throughout the recovery process. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and healthcare standards, including strict confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
Licensure:
Licensed Nurse Practitioner in the state of Louisiana with prescriptive authority and DEA registration (or ability to obtain before employment).
Certification:
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), or other applicable certification.
Required Experience:
2+ years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Preferred Experience:
Eating disorders, behavioral health, adolescent medicine, primary care, psychiatry, or pediatrics. Experience working with adolescents and young adults is highly valued.
Skills:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and clinical decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations while demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and compassion. A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care is essential. We are committed to supporting professional growth and welcome candidates who have a strong interest in eating disorder treatment. Experience with eating disorders is preferred but not required for applicants with relevant medical or behavioral health backgrounds who are eager to learn within a specialized practice. This position is available part-time . Both in-person and telehealth services may be provided. Flexible scheduling may be required to accommodate the needs of patients and their families.
