Practice Setting:
Outpatient Multispecialty Clinic Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our growing multispecialty healthcare clinic in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary clinical team to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to children, adolescents, adults, and/or geriatric patients based upon the provider's training, certification, scope of practice, and assigned clinical service. Our clinic is committed to providing coordinated care that addresses the whole patient rather than treating each condition in isolation. The NP will work alongside behavioral health providers and other healthcare professionals to improve continuity of care, patient outcomes, medication management, preventive healthcare, and appropriate specialty referrals. This position is structured as a 1099 independent-contractor opportunity paying $120 per hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Nurse Practitioner will provide clinical services within the provider's education, certification, competency, and legally authorized scope of practice.
Responsibilities may include:
Conduct comprehensive and problem-focused patient evaluations. Obtain and document complete medical histories and perform appropriate physical examinations. Evaluate acute and chronic medical complaints. Develop differential diagnoses and individualized treatment plans. Order and interpret laboratory testing, diagnostic studies, and other clinically appropriate evaluations. Diagnose and manage medical conditions within the NP's authorized scope of practice. Prescribe medications when legally authorized and clinically appropriate. Perform medication reconciliation and ongoing medication monitoring. Provide chronic disease management and patient education. Provide preventive healthcare, wellness evaluations, and health-risk assessments. Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify treatment plans when clinically indicated. Identify conditions requiring specialty consultation or a higher level of care. Initiate and coordinate appropriate referrals. Provide follow-up care and continuity of treatment. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, preventive care, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up recommendations. Coordinate care with behavioral health and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team when appropriate. Maintain accurate, timely, thorough, and legally compliant documentation within the organization's electronic health record. Complete orders, referrals, prescriptions, encounter documentation, and other clinical records within required timeframes. Follow applicable HIPAA requirements and organizational privacy and confidentiality policies. Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives. Maintain professional communication with patients, families, staff, referral partners, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare professionals. Respond appropriately to abnormal findings and urgent clinical concerns. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and ethical standards. Comply with clinic policies, applicable payer requirements, and federal and North Carolina healthcare regulations. Multidisciplinary Collaboration Because this is a multispecialty practice, the Nurse Practitioner must be comfortable working within an integrated healthcare environment. The NP may collaborate with professionals in areas including primary care, behavioral health, psychiatry, substance-use treatment, developmental and autism services, endocrinology, therapy services, and other specialties offered by or coordinated through the clinic. The NP is expected to communicate effectively with other members of the treatment team while maintaining appropriate professional scope-of-practice boundaries. Clinical Documentation The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for completing documentation that accurately reflects the services provided and supports continuity of care and appropriate billing.
Documentation responsibilities may include:
History and physical examinations Progress notes Medication-management notes Treatment plans Diagnostic orders Laboratory orders and reviews Referrals Prescriptions Patient education Follow-up recommendations Care coordination documentation Medical-necessity documentation when applicable Documentation must be completed according to organizational policy and applicable professional, payer, and regulatory standards. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must possess all credentials necessary to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in North Carolina and maintain those credentials throughout the contractual relationship.
Preferred/required qualifications include:
Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current and unrestricted authorization to practice as an NP in North Carolina appropriate to the services provided. Current national board certification applicable to the NP's population focus and clinical responsibilities. Current DEA registration when required for assigned prescribing responsibilities. Current BLS certification. Current professional liability/malpractice insurance as required by the contractor agreement. Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Knowledge of evidence-based medical practices. Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with electronic health records and electronic prescribing. Understanding of HIPAA, patient confidentiality, infection-control practices, and professional ethics. Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following: Primary care, family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, psychiatric medication management, endocrinology, diabetes and weight management, substance-use treatment/MAT, developmental medicine, veteran healthcare, or integrated/multispecialty outpatient practice. Experience working with Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, commercial insurance, and other third-party payers is also beneficial. Compensation $120 per hour - 1099 Independent Contractor Compensation and payment terms will be established in the independent-contractor agreement. Because this position is structured as an independent-contractor relationship, the contractor is generally responsible for applicable federal and state taxes and other obligations associated with independent-contractor status. Retirement The clinic intends to provide access to a 401(k) retirement benefit/retirement program, subject to eligibility, applicable law, and the terms of the organization's retirement plan. Final eligibility should be confirmed through the organization's plan administrator, accountant, and/or legal counsel to ensure the arrangement is consistent with the provider's 1099 classification. Work Environment This position is based in an outpatient multispecialty clinical environment in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Nurse Practitioner will interact regularly with patients, families, clinical providers, administrative personnel, referral sources, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare organizations. The provider must be comfortable working in a growing practice where collaboration, flexibility, communication, and continuity of patient care are essential.
