Part-Time with ability to grow to full time in the future About Motherroot Integrated Wellness Motherroot Integrated Wellness is a patient-centered practice focused on supporting whole-person health and wellness. We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner who is interested in practicing conventional medicine while incorporating a functional and integrative medicine lens into patient care. Position Overview The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, education, and follow-up care within their scope of practice. In addition to providing high-quality conventional medical care, the NP will consider the whole person when evaluating patients, including lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, stress, environmental factors, medications, family history, and other potential contributors to health and wellness. This is an excellent opportunity for an NP who enjoys spending time with patients, practicing preventative medicine, and taking a thoughtful, root-cause-oriented approach to healthcare. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive health histories and physical examinations. Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic health conditions within scope of practice. Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient's medical history, goals, needs, and preferences. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing. Prescribe medications and other therapies as clinically appropriate and within scope of practice. Provide preventive healthcare, health screenings, and wellness counseling. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed. Provide appropriate referrals and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough medical documentation. Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, nutrition, lifestyle, and preventive health. Recognize situations requiring referral, consultation, or a higher level of care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team. Participate in quality improvement and maintain compliance with applicable professional, legal, and regulatory standards. Functional & Integrative Medicine Approach The NP will incorporate a functional medicine perspective into patient evaluation and care when appropriate.
This includes:

Reviewing nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, relationships, environment, and other lifestyle factors that may influence health. Reviewing medications, supplements, and health history for potential interactions or contributing factors. Using appropriate laboratory and diagnostic data to help identify patterns and areas requiring further evaluation. Supporting evidence-informed nutrition and lifestyle interventions. Emphasizing prevention, health optimization, and patient education. Partnering with patients to establish realistic, individualized health goals. Taking a longitudinal approach to patient health rather than focusing solely on an individual complaint or visit. The NP should be comfortable integrating functional/integrative concepts within evidence-informed clinical practice and their professional scope of practice, recognizing when conventional medical evaluation, treatment, referral, or urgent intervention is indicated. Required Qualifications Current Nurse Practitioner license vaild in Oregon National NP certification appropriate to the area of practice. Prescriptive authority and ability to prescribe within applicable state and federal regulations. Current BLS/CPR certification as applicable. DEA registration, if required for the position and prescribing responsibilities. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and treatment-planning skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other healthcare professionals. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care. Preferred Qualifications Experience in functional, integrative, lifestyle, holistic, or preventive medicine. Additional education or certification in functional or integrative medicine. Experience with nutrition and lifestyle counseling. Interest in preventative health and health optimization. Experience working with patients with complex or chronic health concerns. A curiosity-driven approach to patient care and a willingness to continually learn. Ability to thoughtfully incorporate conventional and complementary approaches while maintaining appropriate clinical standards. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a clinically strong, compassionate, curious, and collaborative Nurse Practitioner who believes that excellent healthcare involves understanding the person as a whole. You should enjoy spending time with patients, asking thoughtful questions, identifying patterns, educating patients, and developing individualized plans rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. You are comfortable practicing within your clinical scope while being open to a broader perspective on health, wellness, prevention, and the factors that influence a patient's overall well-being. Schedule This is a part-time position of approximately 8-12 hours per week, with scheduling to be determined based on the needs of the practice and the availability of the NP. What We Offer A collaborative, patient-centered practice environment. Opportunity to practice with a whole-person and functional medicine perspective. Meaningful time with patients and individualized care. A supportive environment that values clinical curiosity, education, and ongoing learning. Part-time scheduling.
