Job Summary Platt Professional Counseling is seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our established multidisciplinary counseling practice in Frankfort, Illinois. Our practice includes a collaborative team of licensed mental health professionals who provide high-quality, client-centered care. The PMHNP will provide psychiatric evaluations and medication-management services while collaborating with our therapists to support coordinated treatment. Primary Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications within the provider's scope of practice Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, adherence, and treatment progress Provide medication-management follow-up appointments Order and review laboratory testing when clinically appropriate Educate clients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and potential side effects Assess suicide risk, safety concerns, substance use, and the need for a higher level of care Coordinate treatment with counselors, primary-care providers, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals Maintain timely, accurate, and legally compliant clinical documentation Follow all applicable professional, ethical, HIPAA, prescribing, and controlled-substance requirements Participate in consultation and care coordination with the clinical team as needed Required Qualifications Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited graduate nursing program Current national board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner across the lifespan (PMHNP-BC) Current, active, and unrestricted Illinois Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licenses Illinois Full Practice Authority as an APRN, strongly preferred Current Illinois controlled-substance license and federal DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain them before independently prescribing applicable medications Current National Provider Identifier (NPI) Eligibility for credentialing with commercial insurance companies and other payers used by the practice Professional liability insurance at limits required by the practice and participating insurance networks Ability to pass all required background checks and credentialing reviews Knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, suicide-risk assessment, crisis intervention, and appropriate referral to higher levels of care Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills Applicants who do not yet hold Illinois Full Practice Authority must be able to demonstrate compliance with all Illinois collaborative-agreement and prescriptive-authority requirements before beginning independent clinical services. Preferred Qualifications At least two years of experience providing psychiatric evaluation and medication management Experience working in an outpatient behavioral-health or private-practice setting Experience treating adolescents and adults Experience with anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, ADHD, and other commonly presenting psychiatric concerns Experience with electronic health records, preferably SimplePractice Current CAQH profile and existing credentialing with major Illinois insurance networks Interest in working collaboratively with psychotherapists as part of an integrated behavioral-health team Join us in transforming mental health care by providing compassionate, innovative, and evidence-based services.
