POSITION SUMMARY
Provides specialized care for primary care patients in accordance with established standards, policies, and scope of practice under physician direction.
JOB-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Works in collaboration with physicians and other health professionals. Serves as a clinical resource, utilizing critical thinking skills to act as an interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate. Utilizes professional skills in interviewing, assessment, evaluation, identification and implementation of interventions/treatment plans based on the specific needs of each patient. Monitors the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. Responsive to the age-related needs of the patient with special attention given to education and safety. Responsible for the ordering of diagnostic procedures. Responsible for prescribing and dispensing prescription medication.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) program Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current certification from an accredited PA or NP program required. Mandatory Basic and Advanced Life Support Training per policy Meets criteria established by the profession to perform duties defined as those of a PA or NP South Dakota Controlled Substance Certificate DEA license If NP, holds or is eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in South Dakota and Minnesota. Computer Skills Microsoft Office applications, Evident, and other EMRs as applicable.
