Job Description
Join a growing Heart & Vascular Institute in Martinsburg, West Virginia as a senior advanced practice provider on the Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This leadership position blends advanced clinical practice with APP oversight, working closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and drive program growth. Position highlights Leadership role within the Cardiothoracic Surgery service, combining clinical duties with APP team management Mix of preoperative and postoperative inpatient care and administrative responsibilities Opportunities to lead staff development, quality improvement, education, and research initiatives Collaborative environment with strong physician and APP support Key responsibilities Deliver comprehensive inpatient care for cardiothoracic surgery patients, including preoperative assessment, perioperative management, and postoperative follow-up Evaluate and diagnose patients; develop and implement treatment plans in partnership with cardiothoracic surgeons Lead and mentor the APP team, supporting staffing, onboarding, credentialing, scheduling, and professional development Coordinate multidisciplinary care to optimize patient outcomes and maintain high standards of practice Participate in quality improvement projects, departmental leadership activities, education, and research Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices Qualifications Board-certified Nurse Practitioner (ACNP or FNP preferred) or NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant Minimum of 3 years' experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery required Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program Current BLS certification; ACLS as required by the department Must obtain and maintain licensure in West Virginia and Virginia Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills This role is ideal for an experienced APP who wants to combine advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities in a supportive, growth-oriented cardiac program.
