Job Description
General Description:
Provide nutritional support children with gastrostomy feeding tubes and others with special feeding needs such as children with gastrostomy tubes.Educational Requirements:
Must have high school diploma/GED and Registered Medical Assistant Diploma/Medical Assistant Diploma or Certified Nursing Assistant License. Physical/Sensory Requirements (with or w/o the aid of mechanical devices) Repetitive Good physical and mental health. Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment. Visual and auditory to detect any changes in patient's condition. Task/Duties- Provide nutritional support for children with gastrostomy feeding tubes and others with special feeding needs such as bottle-fed with positioning requirements.
- Set up Kangaroo Omni pumps with parameters for individualized feedings.
- Prepare formulas per specifications.
- Maintain clean working environment.
- Monitor and record refrigerator temperatures daily.
- Work with nurses to coordinate care for children with special intake problems. Examples would be to hold feedings for a child who is vomiting or having a medical issue like a seizure.
- Document all feedings given in the IMAR system.
- Document all feedings that are held and notate why in the IMAR system.
- Follow individualized instructions for a resident that is NPO prior to a surgery or procedure.
