GENERAL SUMMARY
The Certified Caregiver Assists the licensed nursing staff by performing routine Certified Caregiver duties and activities of daily living. The Certified Caregiver works under the direction or supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, following established policies and procedures.
Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Greet all residents and visitors to the facility in a friendly, cheerful and professional manner. Maintain a clean personal appearance and wear the approved uniform as required. Provide safe non-medical care for residents within the Community. Is it available to work on a rotating-standby basis for emergency calls. Assist other departments as needed. Treat company assets and budgets responsibly. Work agreed upon schedule with minimal absences in accordance with the attendance policy. Perform routine tasks without close supervision. Put team success ahead of individual interests; contribute to teamwork by demonstrating a "will-do" attitude by working cooperatively with others, including other departments. See what needs to be done and accomplish it, go beyond the basis requirements, and take an ownership attitude towards the facility. Be friendly and helpful with residents and keep a positive spirit and well-groomed personal appearance in representing the facility. Know the facility emergency procedures and perform in emergency drills. Assist with walking and light exercise. Plan and prepare meals, followed by clean-up. Monitor food expiration dates, make future meals. Make beds and change linens, as needed. Light housekeeping includes dusting and vacuuming. Assist with bathing, dressing and grooming. Laundry, ironing, take out garbage. Run errands (pickup prescriptions, dry cleaning). Engage in physical and mental exercises. Provide medication reminders. Escorts on appointments (hair salon, physical therapy, etc.). Maintain calendar and organize mail. Engage in activities (games, memory books). Provide companionship to the Residents. Record daily care notes. Report any significant client changes to their immediate supervisor. Demonstrate the Sun Health Vibrant Living culture and provide all customers/audience with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating Sun Health behaviors (the 6 Cs) each and every day. Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Maintains safe and sanitary workstations and equipment. Follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect patients and self. Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs and rehabilitation. Assists with resident activities as directed. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned. Meets facility continuing education requirements for CNA/LNA certification. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. May be required to work additional hours as dictated by the workload and staffing. Must be willing to rotate on-call coverage, evenings, weekends and holidays. Must work at least one winter holiday per year.
Educatioin and Experience:
High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), or one to three months' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have current unrestricted Certified Care Giver Certificate. Must have a current CPR certification and First Aide certification. Must be able to obtain a Maricopa County food handlers card. Possess current or has the ability to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.
Job-Related Skills/Knowledge:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to residents and staff. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations Ability to use electronic medical record software. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with residents, family members, guests, co-workers, vendors and the public. Ability to meet resident needs while adhering to Health Center policies and procedures.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have ability to read, write and speak English; follow written and oral instructions in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have ability to compute basic mathematical equations.

Level 2: May access minimum necessary PHI (not Designated Record Set) to complete assigned tasks and/or to document actions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
This job is operated in a skilled nursing facility. Must be able to continuously stoop, bend, reach, squat, stand and walk during the workday. Must be able to continuously transfer, lift, turn and position a resident weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs. Must be able to continuously transport residents via wheelchair, Geri chair or shower chair, pushing up to 150 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to occasionally push and pull up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and occasionally 50 lbs. unassisted. Requires continuous mental and visual attention to diversified operations. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. May be exposed to blood and body fluids which may contain HIV and/or

Education/Qualifications/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
