Job Overview We're looking for a compassionate and reliable CNA or Medical Assistant to provide private, in-home care for a warm and witty 72-year-old woman living in the Santa Cruz Mountains, just 5 minutes from downtown Ben Lomond. She is wheelchair-bound and needs dedicated support with walking, standing, and safe transfers, but she brings a great sense of humor to daily life — and a sharp eye for a good deal, especially at HomeGoods. She keeps a clean, tidy home and shares it with one small dog and one cat, so comfort around pets is a plus. This role is about more than tasks — it's an opportunity to build a genuine, trusting relationship while helping her live safely, comfortably, and independently at home. Candidates currently enrolled in a CNA or Medical Assistant certification program are welcome to apply, and we're especially looking for someone local to the greater Santa Cruz area. Duties Provide hands-on assistance with walking, standing, and safe transfers Support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, & grooming Monitor overall well-being, observe vital signs as needed, and communicate any changes in condition promptly Assist with medication reminders and basic health documentation as directed Support with meal preparation and maintaining a clean, safe living environment Maintain accurate notes on daily care provided to ensure smooth continuity of care Accompany to medical appointments, grocery shopping, & various outings Drive the patient's vehicle as needed during working hours for work-related errands and appointments Requirements Current CNA or Medical Assistant certification, or active enrollment in an accredited CNA/Medical Assistant program Experience or training in assisting with mobility, standing, & safe patient transfers (wheelchair experience preferred) Must be legally authorized to work within the state of California Ability to read, write, & communicate effectively in English Active, valid driver's license with a clean driving record required; will have access to the patient's vehicle during working hours for work-related purposes Clean background check Comfortable working around small household pets (one small dog and one cat) Reliable, compassionate, & comfortable working one-on-one in a private home setting Must be local to and able to reliably commute to the Ben Lomond — candidates should reside in the greater Santa Cruz area or surrounding Mountains communities Strong communication skills and a genuine, patient-centered approach to care CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain Dependable, punctual, & trustworthy
