Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Plant Nursery Assistant to join our dynamic horticultural team. In this role, you will support the daily operations of our nursery, ensuring healthy crop production, proper plant care, and efficient management of outdoor and greenhouse environments. Your enthusiasm for gardening and plant cultivation will help create vibrant, thriving landscapes and contribute to sustainable horticultural practices. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on experience in nursery management, crop production, and environmental control systems. Responsibilities Assist with irrigation management, including setting up and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules for various plants and crops Support greenhouse cultivation activities by monitoring plant health, adjusting environmental controls, and implementing crop production procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) Conduct garden trimming, pruning, and landscaping tasks to maintain aesthetic appeal and plant health in outdoor areas Identify pests, diseases, and weeds; implement integrated pest management strategies to protect crops and plants effectively Operate hand tools and heavy lifting equipment safely during planting, transplanting, or landscape projects Maintain accurate records of plant growth, pest control measures, and irrigation schedules to ensure compliance with horticultural standards Collaborate with horticultural teams to execute crop pest management plans and support sustainable gardening practices Skills Strong knowledge of horticulture principles, including plant identification and crop production techniques Experience with irrigation systems, agricultural environmental control systems, greenhouses, and outdoor work environments Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently for gardening, trimming, and landscaping tasks Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to nursery operations and crop management Basic math skills for measuring soil amendments, water volumes, or fertilizer applications Knowledge of plant pest control methods and integrated pest management strategies Physical ability for heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and performing outdoor work in varying weather conditions This role is ideal for passionate individuals eager to grow their expertise in horticulture while contributing to vibrant landscapes.
