Category Schools - CNA Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing essential care to a non-verbal student with significant medical needs. This assignment, located near Naval Anacost Annex, DC, requires a skilled Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) ready to start supporting a student as early as next week. You'll play a critical role in the student's daily routine, ensuring safety, comfort, and an inclusive educational experience.
Qualifications and Required Experience:
Active Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license Experience supporting students in a school environment preferred Comfortable with hands-on care including diaper changes, feeding, and mobility support Understanding of seizure/convulsion triggers and responsive care strategies Ability to work collaboratively with staff for two-person assists and during transitions Familiarity with IEPs and individualized health plans, including monitoring with a blood-oximeter Reliable, compassionate, and willing to provide consistent and backup coverage as needed
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with daily personal care needs such as diaper changes, always prioritizing student and staff safety with two-person support as required Provide adaptive feeding assistance, offering small pieces and fluids between bites, mindful of swallowing history Support the student's mobility, including safe use of wheelchairs and lifting techniques Closely monitor for health concerns, especially seizure triggers and illness, taking prompt action when necessary Help the student transition smoothly into new routines and environments, offering sensory regulation assistance as needed Follow and assist with implementation of health plans, including regular blood-oximeter use Serve as reliable backup coverage for the primary support staff This position offers you the chance to make a meaningful difference in a student's life while utilizing your CNA expertise in an educational setting.
