Category Schools - CNA Nurse Job Type Contract An immediate opportunity awaits for a compassionate Certified Nurse Assistant to provide dedicated support to a non-verbal student with complex care requirements in a dynamic school environment near Washington, DC. Your contribution will make a meaningful impact on a child's daily well-being and educational experience. This contract position requires a confident, skilled CNA prepared to begin as early as next week.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver expert care for a student requiring consistent daily medical and personal support. Assist with diaper changes utilizing two-person protocols for safety. Provide feeding assistance including the administration of small food morsels and closely monitored fluid intake, with careful consideration for the student's swallowing history. Support the student's mobility, including safe transitions to and from a wheelchair. Monitor for signs of seizure activity, especially in response to environmental triggers or illness, and act promptly according to the student's health plan. Access and adhere to directives in the student's IEP, such as monitoring blood oxygen levels with a pulse oximeter. Aid in sensory regulation and smooth transitions throughout the student's school day, promoting comfort and adaptability. Offer coverage during primary staff absences to ensure continuity of care. Accommodate a modified or partial-day schedule as the student adjusts to the school routine.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must hold an active CNA license and have recent experience working in schools or similar settings. Strong understanding of medical care for students with physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team. Dependability, adaptability, and sensitivity to student needs are essential.
