Job Title Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Inpatient Psychiatric Unit Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with prior mental health or behavioral health experience to join our inpatient psychiatric care team. The CNA plays a vital role in supporting patients with acute and chronic mental health conditions by providing direct patient care, ensuring safety, and promoting a therapeutic, respectful environment. Key Responsibilities  Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN)  Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and mobility  Monitor and document patient behavior, mood, and physical condition; promptly report changes to nursing staff  Maintain patient safety through close observation, including suicide precautions and 1:1 monitoring as assigned  Utilize trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques to support patients in crisis  Assist with vital signs, intake/output tracking, and other basic clinical tasks  Support unit routines, group activities, and therapeutic programming as directed  Maintain a clean, safe, and structured environment consistent with psychiatric care standards  Follow all hospital policies related to patient rights, confidentiality (HIPAA), and safety procedures  Collaborate effectively with nurses, providers, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members Required Qualifications  Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (state-approved)  High school diploma or GED  Previous experience in a mental health, psychiatric, or behavioral health setting (inpatient preferred)  Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) Preferred Qualifications  Experience working with patients with severe mental illness, substance use disorders, or co-occurring diagnoses  Training in crisis intervention, de-escalation, or trauma-informed care  Strong communication and observational skills  Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional in high-stress situations Physical & Work Requirements  Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with patient mobility throughout shift  Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed  Ability to respond quickly in emergency or behavioral situations Core Competencies  Compassion and emotional intelligence  Team-oriented mindset  Attention to detail and safety awareness  Respect for patient dignity and diversity

Pay:

$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
