Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity. Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems). Support medical procedures by preparing patients and assisting with tasks such as catheter care, phlebotomy, and medication administration under supervision. Maintain a safe environment by using proper manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts to transfer or reposition patients safely. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure patient needs are understood and met with empathy. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while adhering to legal and organizational standards for medical documentation. Requirements Valid CNA certification/license in accordance with state regulations. Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer's disease, and those requiring hospice or palliative care. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic life support (CPR). Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks is preferred. Prior experience in medical-surgical units, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities or hospital environments is highly valued. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following safe lifting practices; manual handling skills are essential. Strong caregiver communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and provide compassionate patient service. Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Additional experience in ICU, emergency medicine, Level I or Level II trauma centers, pediatric intensive care units (PICU), or post-acute care settings is a plus.
