This position is responsible for providing quality resident care, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), medication administration, companionship, and ensuring residents maintain the highest level of comfort, dignity, and independence. The CNA/Med Tech will provide warm and engaging personal care services, support, and companionship while administering medications using proper medication-passing techniques. This role requires a strong commitment to resident-centered care, safety, professionalism, and compliance with all federal, state, and community regulations. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident Care Provide care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, transferring, ambulation, and personal hygiene. Escort residents to and from meals, activities, appointments, and community events. Assist residents with mobility, repositioning, moving in bed, standing, and walking. Encourage and support resident participation in scheduled programs and activities. Provide companionship and emotional support while promoting resident dignity and independence. Assist with serving meals, bussing tables, laundry, and light housekeeping as needed. Chaperone resident outings and activities outside the community as assigned. Medication Administration Administer medications using approved medication-passing procedures and according to physician orders. Maintain accurate medication administration records (MARs) and related documentation. Observe residents for medication reactions, side effects, or changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the supervisor or clinical staff. Documentation and Monitoring Monitor residents for changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition. Document resident care, observations, incidents, unusual occurrences, and any changes in health status in a timely and accurate manner. Measure and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, and weight. Assist with the development and updating of resident care plans. Safety and Compliance Respond promptly and appropriately to resident emergencies and follow community reporting procedures. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by CDC, state, federal, and community guidelines. Adhere to infection control protocols and all health and safety procedures. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain resident confidentiality at all times. Monitor the community environment and take appropriate action to keep it safe, clean, and attractive for residents, visitors, and team members. Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures. Professional Development Attend and participate in all required training, in-service education programs, meetings, and recertification programs. Maintain required certifications and licensing. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Required Qualifications Active Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in good standing. Current Medication Technician (Med Tech) Certification required. Ability to provide compassionate care while maintaining professionalism and resident confidentiality. Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, policies, procedure manuals, and care plans. Ability to write routine reports, incident documentation, and resident care notes. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, visitors, and team members. Strong organizational, observation, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must successfully complete all required background screenings and pre-employment requirements. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing, or a related healthcare setting preferred. Experience providing personal care and medication administration is preferred. Certifications, Licenses, and Special Requirements Current Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification required. Current Medication Technician (Med Tech) Certification required. CPR/First Aid Certification preferred. Must maintain all required certifications and licensing throughout employment. Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and assist residents throughout the shift. Ability to lift and transfer residents safely utilizing proper body mechanics and equipment when necessary. Professional Appearance Employees are expected to maintain professional grooming and appearance standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook, including policies regarding uniforms, personal grooming, body piercings, and tattoos.
