10 or 12 hour shift shifts Weekends/Holidays will be call basis W ill require call Assures appropriate traffic control in the operating room. Initiates the incident reporting mechanisms when indicated. Utilizes appropriate channels of communication when initiating change, reporting information or concerns. Promotes and contributes positively to intra and interdepartmental relations. Assists with the orientation of new employees and assumes unit responsibility when delegated by the nursing manager or director. Performs specialized nursing care in all phases of the peri-operative role. Assists with pre-and postoperative assessment of the patient and updates preference cards as needed. Performs surgical counts per policy and prepares operating room setup. Recognizes abnormal diagnostic laboratory data, blood gas values, radiologic data, and knows the implied significance of each. Recognizes emergency situations and reacts efficiently and appropriately. Assures patients' right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality at all times.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Computer proficiency required.
- Perioperative Nursing required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills required.
- At least two (2) years circulating and/or scrub experience required in a multi-specialty setting.
- Previous experience and working knowledge of computerized documentation required.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time required.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills and strong anticipatory skills required.
- Manual dexterity, lifting, pulling, pushing of equipment, heavy instrument sets, and patients required.
Education:
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Field of Study:
Nursing Work Experience:
- 1+ of general nursing experience in an acute care setting. [Preferred]
- 2+ of nursing experience in the required specialty [Preferred]
Additional Information:
- Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
- Basic Life Support
- CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
