Job Summary Supports safe patient care delivery by performing duties at the direction of licensed staff and supervisors. Supports patient populations from neonate to geriatrics. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures. Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working within multi disciplinary teams Demonstrates flexibility and positive attitude Ability to prioritize effectively Essential Tasks and Responsibilities Performs duties as assigned within Perioperative Services. Transporting patients. Demonstrates basic understanding of sterile technique related to assisting with sterile prep procedures. Assists in positioning of patients under direction of licensed staff. Prepares OR tables, cast equipment, etc. following established procedure. Readily available to assist patient care teams as needed. Regularly checking with RN in assigned OR's or charge nurse to ensure needed resources are available. Consistently communicates break/lunch coverage to RN or charge nurse. Writes contact number on whiteboard for each room assigned. Assists in rapid turnover by thorough mopping of room and removal of soiled instruments, trash and linen according to established AORN standard cleaning procedures. Reports/labels malfunctioning/broken equipment and removes from service to the appropriate repair area. Thoroughly prepares assigned OR rooms with appropriate equipment for individual patient to promote safe, efficient care. Delivers specimens to lab as needed and records information in specimen log accurately. Performs housekeeping duties according to policies & protocols. Clean cast cart after each use. Assists with cleaning of storerooms and keeps equipment clean and organized. Participates in regular cleaning schedule of equipment. Removes trash and linen from designated areas. Stocks supplies in OR rooms, warmers, scrub sinks, locker rooms. Orders linen daily. Assures adequate supply of formalin and containers.
