Job Description
About the Role We are seeking a highly organized and proactive CNA or MA to serve as an office assistant for a growing solo Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) practice. In this role, you will be the main point of contact for our patients, balancing receptionist tasks with basic clinical support, insurance navigation, and medication prior authorizations.

This position is offered as an independent contractor (1099) role.Key Responsibilities Front Office & Reception:
Greet patients, manage check-ins/check-outs, and answer phone calls or patient messages promptly. Schedule appointments, collect copays, and manage the clinic's daily calendar. Maintain clean, welcoming reception and clinical areas.Clinical & Patient Support:
Obtain and record basic patient vital signs (blood pressure, weight, heart rate) prior to psychiatric evaluations and follow-ups. Prepare patient charts in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) prior to visits.Insurance, Pharmacy & Administrative Support:
Submit, track, and follow up on Medication Prior Authorizations (PAs) . Communicate directly with insurance companies regarding coverage, benefits, and claims status. Coordinate with local and mail-order pharmacies to assist with prescription renewals and troubleshooting. Qualifications & Requirements Active CNA or Medical Assistant (MA) certification (Preferred). Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a medical office setting (Psychiatry/Mental Health experience is a plus). Strong familiarity with submitting Prior Authorizations (CoverMyMeds or EHR-integrated workflows). Excellent phone etiquette, patient communication, and professional writing skills. Proficiency with EHR systems (Tebra) and basic computers systems. High level of attention to detail, confidentiality, and strict adherence to HIPAA standards. Prior inpatient experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers or PICU settings will be considered an asset. Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and hospital medicine practices will support your success in this role.Pay:
