Job Description

Nurse Assistant Job, Day and Evening Shifts based on unit needs (7a-7:30p, 7a-3:30p, 3-11:30p), Oncology Powers Health is hiring a Nurse Assistant for Oncology to work days and evenings at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. The goal of the Medical Oncology department is to provide continuous, efficient care to patients requiring services for cancer or hematologic diseases. The department is dedicated to supportive services that meet the needs of the patient population served in the least obtrusive way possible. This is accomplished through a multi-disciplinary approach that is progressive and tailored to each patient's need.
Nurse Assistant Roles and Responsibilities:
Performs various designated patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of the patient in accordance with Hospital Policy and Nursing Service Standards. Assists patients with ADLs, ambulation, mobility, positioning, turning and lifting while maintaining all Safety Patient Care Practices. Assists patients with transfers and discharges. Assists patients with nutritional needs ie passing and collecting food trays, feeding patients, providing fresh water every shift, assist with maintenance of special diets and between meal nourishment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency preferred. One year direct patient care experience with successful completion of competency exam, completion of one semester of clinicals in nursing program or completion of nursing assistant certification required. CPR certification required. Completes annual skill validations as well as safety and infection control procedures. Part-time (Non-Benefit Eligible), Days/Evenings, 24 hrs; every other weekend and holiday, 8 and 12 hour day and evening shifts based on unit needs
