Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide essential direct patient care, support clinical staff, and promote a safe, comfortable environment for individuals across various care settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to enhancing the well-being of diverse patient populations. Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts. Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. Support medication administration processes under supervision, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality. Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments. Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care and wound management to prevent infections. Document patient information thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR) systems and ensure medical records are up-to-date. Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Assist with patient transfers and mobility using safe lifting practices and appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts. Support patients in rehabilitation or post-acute care settings by encouraging participation in therapy activities. Communicate effectively with patients and their families to address concerns and provide education on health maintenance. Experience Candidates should demonstrate prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as long-term care facilities, hospitals—including ICU, trauma centers, or emergency departments—and outpatient clinics. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems) like Epic or Cerner is highly desirable. A background in specialized areas such as geriatrics, behavioral health, hospice care, pediatrics, or medical-surgical units is advantageous.
Additional qualifications include:
Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program. Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology relevant to patient care. Familiarity with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safe handling practices. Basic life support (BLS) certification or CPR training. Prior exposure to specialized settings such as assisted living, memory care units, or Level I/II trauma centers is preferred.
