Certified Nursing Assistant Forster Woods Adult Day Center - 3.0 East Lansing, MI Job Details Part-time $20 - $22 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid training Paid time off Paid sick time Qualifications CPR Certification Interpersonal skills First Aid Certification Attention to detail CNA First aid protocols Full Job Description Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Adult Day Program Forster Woods Adult Day Services East Lansing, Michigan Forster Woods Adult Day Services is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Adult Day Program team. This position will work closely with our nurse and will be responsible for supporting the daily health and wellness needs of our participants. The CNA will also provide designated nursing-support coverage when the nurse is absent, following established care plans, medication orders, organizational policies, and RN direction and supervision. Forster Woods serves adults age 18 and older with a wide variety of needs, including older adults, individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. This position is ideal for an experienced CNA who is comfortable working independently, recognizes changes in an individual's condition, communicates effectively with families, and enjoys developing meaningful relationships with the people they serve. Primary Responsibilities Check and document participant vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, and other measurements as appropriate. Administer routine participant medications as trained, authorized, and delegated in accordance with medication orders, Forster Woods medication-management policies, and RN direction and supervision. Accurately document medication administration and maintain appropriate medication records. Observe participants throughout the day for changes in physical condition, behavior, cognition, mobility, appetite, or overall well-being. Promptly communicate significant observations or changes in condition to the nurse and appropriate leadership. Communicate appropriate health-related information and observed changes to participants' families or responsible parties in accordance with established procedures. Maintain clear, timely, and accurate health-related documentation. Assist the nurse with participant health and wellness needs and routine nursing-support responsibilities. Provide designated health and medication support when the nurse is absent within the employee's training, demonstrated competency, authorization, and applicable scope of practice. Respond appropriately to participant illness, injury, falls, or other health concerns and follow established emergency and incident procedures. Assist participants with activities of daily living, including toileting, personal care, transfers, positioning, ambulation, and mobility. Assist with participant arrival and departure as needed. Follow infection-control, universal precaution, medication-safety, and participant-safety procedures. Work collaboratively with direct-care staff and assist with participant engagement and daily programming when health-related responsibilities permit. Maintain participant dignity, confidentiality, independence, and choice at all times. Qualifications Current Michigan CNA certification in good standing. Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Previous experience with medication administration strongly preferred. Experience working with older adults and/or adults with disabilities preferred. Dementia-care experience strongly preferred. Ability to accurately obtain and document vital signs. Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to changes in a participant's condition. Strong judgment and ability to follow established protocols and seek appropriate nursing or emergency assistance when needed. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable communicating professionally and compassionately with participants' families and responsible parties. Strong attention to detail, particularly with medication administration and documentation. Dependable attendance and ability to assume additional responsibilities when the nurse is absent. Ability to safely assist with transfers, mobility, personal care, and activities of daily living. Ability to successfully complete required background checks and employment requirements.
