Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant Transportation Aide to support patient mobility and transportation within healthcare facilities. This vital role ensures that patients are safely transported to and from various departments, appointments, and procedures, maintaining a high standard of care and comfort. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, attention to safety protocols, and experience working with diverse patient populations, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or requiring specialized care such as hospice or ICU support. This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient well-being while working in a dynamic healthcare environment. Duties Safely assist patients with mobility needs using appropriate transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques. Transport patients between departments, clinics, or external facilities while adhering to safety and confidentiality standards. Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and patients to coordinate transportation schedules and address individual needs. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of transportation equipment and patient care areas in compliance with infection control protocols. Monitor patient vital signs when necessary during transport and report any changes or concerns promptly. Assist with patient positioning, comfort measures, and basic caregiving tasks during transit. Document transportation activities accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems while respecting HIPAA regulations. Requirements Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) Current CPR or BLS certification Must have a Michigan Chauffer License to drive the facility vehicle Experience working in healthcare settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care environments. Knowledge of medical terminology, patient transfer methods, and safety practices including aseptic technique and safe lifting practices. Familiarity with electronic health records EHR Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, or requiring hospice or ICU care. Strong communication skills combined with compassionate caregiving attitude and teamwork orientation. Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while maintaining patient dignity and comfort.
