A Nursing Assistant provides hospital and nursing home patients with basic care and assists them with daily activities. Helps patients with dressing, washing, and feeding. May perform basic medical care under the direction of a nurse or other medical professional. These roles typically require completion of a regional agency-approved training program in order to obtain a certification before practicing.
Guardian Home Healthcare is looking for a part-time/full time PNA/CNA in Roxoboro. These are hands-on paraprofessional services that assist our clients, their families or both with essential home management tasks, personal care tasks, or supervision of the client's activities to enable them, their families or both to remain and function effectively in their home for as long as possible. Caregivers at Guardian Home Healthcare, Inc. provide personal care, assistant services, and home management tasks that support the client's health, care and safety. Caregivers shall be assigned only to duties for which they are trained, competent, qualified, and licensed to perform.
Responsibilities:
Provide and assist with personal care (i.e., dressing, bathing, oral care, skin, nail, and hair). Assist with ambulation and transfer with or without assertive/mechanical devices. Perform incidental household services that are essential to the client's care at home. Record and Report changes in the client's condition, family situation or needs to the nurse administrator or appropriate authorities. Provide companionship and/or emotional support. Assist or administer bed or tub bath, basin, shower or sitz bath. Make an occupied or unoccupied bed. Assist with planning and preparing proper nutritional meals per physician's order while maintaining proper food handling. Prepare clients for mealtime and assist with feeding. Empty/record drainage of catheter bag, record intake. Assist clients with bedpan and/or urinal. Provide basic first aid. Observe, record, and report self-administered medications. Assist in organizing household items. Reporting to work with a clean, well-groomed appearance at all times. Maintain professional boundaries with clients at all times. Complete other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Personal Care Assistant (PNA), with current state licensure where applicable. Experience working with geriatric populations or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks. Demonstrated ability to perform basic life support (BLS) and CPR techniques effectively. Prior experience in diverse settings including long-term care facilities, hospitals (Level I & II Trauma Centers), assisted living communities, or home health is advantageous. Strong communication skills to engage caregivers and patients compassionately while maintaining professionalism. Ability to lift heavy loads safely using proper manual handling techniques and assistive devices like Hoyer lifts.
