The Activities Aide assists in providing organized activities that are appropriate to the needs and interests of each resident, encourages their voluntary choice of activities and participation, and promotes and maintains a sense of usefulness to self and others. Prepares initial and quarterly assessments. Maintains attendance sheets. Assists with performance improvement survey.

LICENSE:

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

Minimum:

• Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or become certified within 6 months of date of hire. • BLS certification required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum:

• Experience in long term care setting

Preferred:

• Activities experience or CNA training

SKILLS:

Minimum:

• Demonstrate a basic knowledge about recreational activities

Preferred:

• Knowledge of common physical and mental disorders of the long term care resident • knowledge of activities programs and interventions
