Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility to promote independence and dignity. Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support patient transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensure safe manual handling practices at all times. Administer medications under supervision in accordance with healthcare protocols while maintaining strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Observe and report changes in patient conditions promptly to nursing staff, including signs of distress or deterioration. Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards through aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care or wound management. Document all patient interactions thoroughly within medical documentation systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical records. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program. Experience working with diverse populations including long-term care residents, geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring dementia or Alzheimer's care. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for efficient medical documentation. Knowledge of basic physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to patient care environments. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper techniques; experience with manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts is preferred. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and provide compassionate caregiving. CPR certification and basic life support (BLS) training are required to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
