Duties Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using proper manual handling and patient transfer methods including Hoyer lifts. Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patients' conditions closely, report changes promptly to nursing staff, and assist with specialized care such as dementia care, Alzheimer's care, or memory care as needed. Facilitate patient transfers within the facility using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs; assist with mobility exercises for geriatric or disabled patients. Maintain detailed medical documentation and ensure accurate updates in EMR/EHR systems to support seamless communication among healthcare providers. Engage in patient service activities that promote comfort and well-being, including basic life support (BLS), CPR certification maintenance, and safe handling practices during heavy lifting or manual handling tasks. Qualifications Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) recognized by the state licensing board. Experience working with diverse populations including long-term care residents, seniors in assisted living or nursing homes, pediatric patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic nursing procedures such as catheter care or phlebotomy is highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks; experience working in hospital medicine or acute care settings is a plus. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and caregivers. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow safe lifting practices during patient transfers or manual handling tasks. Demonstrated understanding of infection control standards including aseptic technique and infectious disease care protocols. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations; previous experience in medical-surgical units or ICU environments is advantageous.
