A Nursing Assistant provides hospital and nursing home patients with basic care and assists them with daily activities. Helps patients with dressing, washing, and feeding. May perform basic medical care under the direction of a nurse or other medical professional. These roles typically require completion of a regional agency-approved training program in order to obtain a certification before practicing.
The primary function of this position is to ensure the total delivery of nursing care and related services for all residents under their assigned area and in compliance with all federal, state and local guidelines, standards and regulations which govern the facility, and as directed by the Personal Care Administrator so as to ensure each resident's medical, psychosocial and spiritual needs and wishes are met effectively and efficiently on a continuum.

Personal Care Coordinator/Personal Care Administrator Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Medication Technician 1. Properly administers to residents and accurately documents medications, including PRN medications, as ordered by physicians. 2. Administers medications referring to drug cards, drug book, reading labels three times, and identifying correct resident. 3. Orders medications and medical supplies as needed. Checks delivery. Medical supplies are cleared through LPN Nursing Supervisor/RN or Administrator. 4. Completes treatments as ordered. 5. Obtains specimens as ordered by MD. 6. Obtains vital signs on residents as ordered/scheduled. 7. Assists with pacemaker checks on residents as scheduled. 8. Notifies MD and families of significant changes to the resident's condition and with general updates related to the resident's care. 9. Cooperates with and participates in the services of professional associates: Dentists, Podiatrist, Psychotherapists, Lab Technicians, etc. 10. Observes all residents' skin conditions and documents per Facility policies. 11. Documents in clinical records all care provided to residents, including monthly summaries, in a relevant, legible, concise, retrievable manner. 12. Maintains clean, well-stocked medication cart and medication room. 13. Prepares resident for admission, transfers, visits to treatment on diagnostic service, or discharge. 14. Participates in disaster and fire drills and directs the staff to perform safely and effectively. 15. Assists in resident care needs. 16. Adheres to, upholds and enforces all policies and procedures of the facility. 17. Adheres to, upholds and enforces all regulations and recommendations of the Department of Human Services and Department of Public Welfare. 18. Provides safe and efficient care to all residents during shift. 19. Keeps apprised of new information in the field by attending seminars/affiliation meetings, reading related literature, etc., as directed by the Administrator.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
1. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility. 2. Must possess sight and hearing senses at all times or use prosthetics, which will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met. 3. Must be able to walk extensively, sit for extended periods of time and bend, lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds frequently. 4. Other demands include frequent arm, finger and low reaching movements and some occasional climbing and crawling. 5. Moves intermittently throughout the workday. 6. Works in and around all areas of the facility. 7. Is subject to frequent interruptions and must then adjust schedule accordingly. 8. Is subject to falls, burns from equipment, and reactions from smoke, disinfectants and other air contaminants. 9. May be subject to handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. 10. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, blood and body fluids, diseases, conditions, etc., such as COVID, TB, AIDS, and Hepatitis B viruses. 11. May be subject to emotionally distraught residents, family members, visitors, personnel, etc. and must possess the ability to cope with the stresses of the environment. 12. Must be able to work mandatory overtime as needed and/or as outlined in the personnel policies.
