Nursing Health Information Assistant

Job Description

Who We Are Messiah Lifeways is a non-profit organization located in Mechanicsburg, PA, that provides a network of services for adults 55 and better living in South Central PA. Our roots trace back to 1896, when the Brethren in Christ Church founded Messiah Home in Harrisburg, PA, to serve older adults with Christ-like love. Who You Are The Nursing Health Information Assistant (HIA) is charged with maintaining the facilities active clinical records in an organized file system and coordinate all aspects of admissions, transfers, and discharges. Complete secretarial duties relating to the department daily. The HIA is also responsible for surveillance of all clinical records in the assigned Neighborhoods and their compliance with regulations. To be successful in this role you'll need to have knowledge of/experience in the following: Proficiency in technology and systems management
  • Office Suite (Microsoft), POC, databases Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • interpersonal, phone, and front desk communication skills Effective and Efficient
  • skilled in both verbal and written communication across diverse audiences. Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • maintaining accuracy and focus in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruption What You'll Do Participate in accountability for resident satisfaction Transcribe and process Medical Provider orders accurately Submit month end ancillary sheets and yellow lab receipts to Billing Coordinator in Fiscal Assist Medical Providers and staff in locating resident data, charts and appropriate personnel upon request Audit charts in accordance with the Thinning Chart Procedure for compliance with regulations Close charts according to closed Record Policy Complete necessary orders of par levels of supplies for the assigned Neighborhoods to ensure efficient operation Complete necessary orders for supplements and nourishment items Assist in the maintenance of records for resident care to include reports, assignments sheets, nutrition and hydration records, various schedules, internal mail Function as the key support person to the Health Information Specialist or Nursing Supervisor on duty, and to assist in organizing and supporting the activities of the neighborhood on a particular shift or portion of the neighborhood Contact Medical Provider offices/hospitals for appointments, schedules, x-rays and labs per the direction of the Nursing Supervisor Why You Should Choose to Work with Us We work hard to create a One Team culture of care and collaboration and ensure that team members are best equipped to lead happy, healthy, and balanced lives.

What Else You'll Need Graduate of a Medical Secretary/Assistant Program preferred 1 Year Clerical or Clinical experience in healthcare setting preferred
