About the Role This is a one-on-one support position working with an individual with an intellectual/developmental disability in a home and community-based setting. The right person will provide a combination of IDD support, companionship, skill-building, community engagement, and personal care . While CNA experience is important because the individual does require hands-on assistance with certain activities of daily living, this position is about much more than personal care. You will help create a consistent and engaging evening routine that encourages the individual to participate, make choices, develop skills, enjoy activities, and maintain as much independence as possible. What You'll Do Build a positive, trusting relationship with the individual you support Encourage independence with everyday routines and activities Help identify hobbies, interests, and activities the individual enjoys Support participation in recreational and community activities Encourage communication, social interaction, and personal choice Assist with meals, evening routines, and activities around the home Provide hands-on personal care when needed, including assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene, mobility, and transfers Use patience, consistency, and positive approaches when providing support Follow the individual's ISP, support strategies, and established routines Observe and communicate changes in needs, preferences, or behaviors Complete required documentation Work collaboratively with family, caregivers, and the Inspire Home and Health team
What We're Looking For Required:
Active CNA certification/license Previous experience providing direct care or support Comfortable assisting with personal care and activities of daily living Genuine interest in working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities Patient, dependable, engaging, and compassionate Ability to encourage independence rather than simply completing tasks for the individual Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliable transportation Ability to complete required company and ODP training Ability to successfully complete all required background checks
Preferred:
Experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or developmental disabilities Experience as a DSP, CNA, caregiver, behavioral support professional, life skills professional, or similar role Experience with community-based or one-on-one IDD services Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Gerontology, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field RBT, NADD, BCaBA, or other behavioral/developmental disability credentials Schedule 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM Consistent evening hours.
