Job Description

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Student Support Schedule Monday through Friday School-day hours: 8:20 AM - 3:05 PM Full school-year assignment Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide one-on-one support for a kindergarten student with diabetes. The student is nonverbal, uses an insulin pump, and is otherwise largely independent. The CNA will monitor the student's health and well-being throughout the school day, assist with academic participation, and support daily activities as needed. This role requires close collaboration with school nursing staff, teachers, and support personnel to ensure the student's safety, health, and successful participation in the educational environment. Key Responsibilities Health & Medical Support Monitor the student for signs of high and low blood sugar levels and respond according to established health plans. Escort the student to the health office for insulin administration and other medical needs. Observe and report changes in the student's condition to the appropriate school staff. Support implementation of individualized healthcare and safety plans. Academic & Classroom Support Assist the student in accessing classroom instruction and participating in educational activities. Provide redirection, encouragement, and support to promote engagement and independence. Assist with communication and other classroom-related needs as appropriate. Student Supervision & Safety Ensure the student's safety throughout the school day, including during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and school events. Provide support during emergency situations in accordance with established procedures. General School Support When the assigned student is absent, assist teachers, classroom staff, or the health office with student support and daily operations. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and effective communication with staff and families. Qualifications Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. Experience working with children and/or individuals with medical needs preferred. Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to health-related concerns. Strong communication, observation, and teamwork skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to foster a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment. Working Environment School-based setting following the academic calendar. Collaborative team environment with educators, nurses, and support staff. Interview Process:
