Open Until Filled This is a Full-Time 40 Hours Weekly position with the Human Services Center. For more information on the Human Services Center, please visit https://dss.sd.gov . •$3,000.00 Hiring Incentive •The CNA/Mental Health Aide performs personal care services by completing patient care assignments, providing an atmosphere conducive to treatment, and supporting patients with mental health and chemical dependency issues in an effort to meet the patients' needs. Multiple positions are available with the option of part-time or full-time employment.
Licenses and Certifications:
The Human Services Center provides a comprehensive employee orientation including completion of the Certified Nurse Aide (C.N.A.) certification which is required for the Geriatric program.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Knowledge of:
mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and chemical dependency; patient safety procedures; patient rights and confidentiality; CPR and first aid; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Techniques.
Ability to:
accurately observe, recognize, report, and record physical symptoms and significant behavioral characteristics of patients; carry out individual program plans for treatment of patients; relate to and work constructively with patients; detect significant or unusual patient behavior; verbalize the needs of patients; provide personal care services to patients; follow oral and written instructions; follow established policies and procedures; listen and be empathetic with patients; assist in lifting and transferring of patients; lift 75 pounds; work with patients displaying aggressive behavior; communicate information clearly and concisely. This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08. Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Successful applicant(s) will undergo an abuse and neglect screening. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
