Nursing Assistant Job Description Job Overview As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, memory care facilities, and home community care. You will assist patients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while supporting the nursing staff in delivering comprehensive care. This position requires compassion, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Duties Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing. Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. Provide support for patients in mobility and physical activities. Help with feeding patients who require assistance. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by following infection control protocols. Document patient care activities accurately and report any changes in patient conditions to nursing staff. Support pediatric patients with specialized needs as required. Engage with patients experiencing dementia or other cognitive impairments to ensure their comfort and well-being. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans. Skills To be successful as a Nursing Assistant, candidates should possess the following skills: Strong patient care skills with a focus on compassion and empathy. Experience in pediatrics or working with children is preferred. Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) usage. Familiarity with critical care environments is advantageous. Experience in inpatient settings or memory care facilities is beneficial. Understanding of dementia care practices to support cognitive health. Ability to provide home community care effectively. Excellent communication skills to interact positively with patients and healthcare teams.
