Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort. Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates with accuracy and professionalism. Support patient transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques to ensure safety for both patient and caregiver. Document patient care activities thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality. Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff or healthcare providers, especially in critical care or emergency situations. Provide emotional support and compassionate communication tailored to patients with dementia, Alzheimer's, or other cognitive impairments. Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care or medication administration under supervision when qualified. Requirements Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from an accredited program. Experience working with a variety of patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (BLS). Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow safe lifting practices during patient transfers or mobility assistance. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and caregivers. Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
