We are looking for early morning, long-term, hands-on care for my wife in her 70s. Susan has an incomplete, C1 - C2 spinal cord injury. She needs total care with her ADLs and is happy and healthy with her activity and morning routines. This caregiving job is great for those who are interested in learning from a unique, motivated quadriplegic patient who has a very active routine. CNA skills required with work experience, dependability, and references. This care takes place in our private home setting. This position is daily for 6:30 am to 8:30/9 am, Monday through Friday. It requires range of motion, hygiene, foley care, medication & supplements, making breakfast, feeding, and tidying up. Another one of Susan's caregivers will relieve you between 8-9am to continue with Susan's care. There are more shifts available during the day 6:30am-3pm, please ask. Applicants should be fit, withOUT chronic pain (such as back/joint pain, arthritis, aggravating injuries, etc.) and NO chronic illness. Susan's care is active and requires her caregivers to move her body. Some daily activities required are patient transfers, upright kneeling on a cushion bedside for as much as 25 minutes each day, moving back and forth from standing to sitting on the ground, passive range of motion for 60-120 minutes each day, etc. This job is VERY active. This patient requires a very active lifestyle to stay healthy. She requires the active assistance of her caregiver. This patient requires both active and passive range of motion and exercises. It's a HUGE plus if you have experience in physical therapy, sports, exercise program, and/or performing range of motion. Body awareness is necessary since you are moving her body for her. Located a couple of minutes from I-37 North bound exit 14B Redbird Lane, in the Calallen area of Corpus Christi. Applicant must have a reliable car and a current license. There are no bus stops nearby. Please check your commute before applying. This position requires dependability as this is in her home and not a facility.
