Job Description

Job Overview A Joyful Journey Assisted Living is seeking dependable, experienced, and highly motivated Caregiver Team Leads - one for each of our residential assisted living locations. This is not simply a caregiver position with a title. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of their assigned home, lead their team, solve problems independently, and keep daily operations running smoothly. Each of our Type B Assisted Living homes serves a maximum of five - six residents, allowing us to provide individualized care in a smaller, home-like environment. As the Team Lead, you will work directly with residents while also serving as the day-to-day leader of your assigned home. You will oversee your caregiving team, ensure resident care and documentation standards are met, keep the home organized and operating properly, and communicate directly with our Area Manager. We need someone who can walk into the house, assess what needs to be done, and work independently and confidently to manage the day-to-day operation of the home. Schedule Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-3:00 PM Team Leads are also required to: Attend a mandatory weekly manager meeting Report directly to the Area Manager Participate in the company phone/on-call rotation as assigned Assist with emergency shift coverage when necessary What Success Looks Like in This Role A successful Team Lead does not simply complete their own tasks. They make sure the entire house is running correctly.
You will be expected to:
Know what is happening in your home at all times. Identify problems before they become bigger problems. Find solutions instead of simply reporting issues. Hold caregivers accountable for completing their responsibilities. Make sure resident care is being completed correctly and consistently. Keep documentation organized and up to date. Communicate staffing, resident, and operational concerns to the Area Manager. Maintain a professional, organized, and positive environment for residents, families, and staff. Lead by example. We are looking for an independent problem-solver who understands when they can handle something themselves and when an issue needs to be escalated to management. Team Lead Responsibilities Staff Leadership & Accountability Serve as the day-to-day leader for caregivers assigned to your location. Supervise staff and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed. Provide direction, coaching, and support to team members. Train and assist with onboarding new caregivers as needed. Monitor employee performance and address concerns promptly. Document employee performance issues and assist with write-ups in coordination with the Area Manager. Maintain professional communication with staff. Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, resident care plans, and established expectations. Help maintain a dependable, professional, and accountable caregiving team. Scheduling & Staffing Monitor the schedule and address potential staffing gaps. Respond promptly when an employee calls out or fails to report for a scheduled shift. Immediately attempt to locate qualified shift coverage. Communicate unresolved staffing issues to the Area Manager. Be willing to provide caregiver coverage when appropriate coverage cannot be obtained. The primary Team Lead schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM , but flexibility is required when unexpected staffing situations occur. Resident Care Responsibilities The Team Lead is also a working caregiver and will participate directly in resident care.
Responsibilities include:
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility. Administer medications according to resident care plans and company procedures. Monitor vital signs and observe residents for changes in condition. Promptly report changes in resident condition to appropriate management. Prepare meals and assist with meal planning. Provide companionship and engage residents in appropriate activities. Assist residents with mobility and other physical care needs. Provide individualized care for residents who may have Alzheimer's disease, dementia, developmental disabilities, or other care needs. Accurately document resident care. Follow resident care plans, HIPAA requirements, company policies, and assisted living procedures. House Operations The Team Lead is responsible for making sure their assigned location remains clean, organized, compliant, and ready for residents, families, management, and visitors at all times.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure caregivers complete assigned household chores. Make sure the home remains clean, sanitary, organized, and safe. Ensure trash is removed regularly. Make sure boxes and other household waste are broken down and disposed of appropriately. Monitor household supplies and communicate needs before supplies run out. Ensure required resident and facility binders are maintained. Make sure forms, logs, medication documentation, and other required records are complete, accurate, organized, and properly filed. Identify maintenance, safety, or operational concerns and make sure they are addressed promptly. Assist the Area Manager with day-to-day facility operations. Communication & Chain of Command The Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact for routine staff concerns at their assigned home.
You will:
Respond professionally to staff questions and concerns. Resolve routine issues whenever possible. Communicate significant concerns to the Area Manager. Report directly to the Area Manager. Attend the mandatory weekly manager meeting. Provide updates regarding staffing, residents, documentation, supplies, maintenance, and other operational concerns. Follow the established chain of command. Direct family concerns to the Area Manager when appropriate. Company Phone / On-Call Rotation Team Leads participate in a rotating company phone/on-call schedule. During your assigned rotation, you will be responsible for: Keeping the company phone accessible. Responding promptly to calls and text messages. Handling routine staffing questions and call-outs. Maintaining professional communication regardless of the time of contact. Ensuring important information is communicated to the Area Manager. Assisting with staffing and other operational concerns that occur during your rotation. An additional on-call bonus is provided during assigned company-phone rotations. QualificationsRequired Previous caregiving experience. Ability to provide hands-on personal care. Strong communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities without constant supervision. Ability to make decisions and solve routine problems independently. Ability to professionally direct and hold team members accountable. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions when unexpected situations arise. Comfortable with medication administration, resident documentation, and vital signs. Ability to assist residents with mobility and physical care needs. Ability to work Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM . Ability to attend the mandatory weekly manager meeting . Preferred Previous Team Lead, Shift Lead, Supervisor, House Manager, or management experience. Experience in assisted living, memory care, nursing home care, hospice, or home health. Experience creating employee schedules. Experience training or supervising caregivers. Experience with medication administration and assisted living documentation. We are looking for a leader who can walk into their assigned home, understand what needs attention, take initiative, and make sure the job gets done.
Compensation Base Pay:
