Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team on the NOC (night) shift. This vital role provides essential support to patients by delivering high-quality, personalized care during overnight hours. Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts. Monitor and record vital signs accurately, ensuring timely communication of any changes to nursing staff. Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality. Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs, including dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health conditions. Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols during all patient interactions and procedures. Document patient care activities thoroughly within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring medical records are complete and accurate. Assist with medical procedures like catheter care or phlebotomy when trained and authorized to do so. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across various units including ICU, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and hospice care to ensure comprehensive patient care. Support safe lifting practices and manual handling techniques to prevent injury for both patients and staff during transfers or repositioning. Engage in ongoing training related to medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and emergency response protocols such as CPR or basic life support (BLS). Experience Prior experience working as a CNA in long-term care facilities, hospitals, assisted living communities, or home care settings is highly desirable. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays enhances the quality of patient support provided. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and safe lifting practices is essential for maintaining safety standards. Familiarity with specialized care areas such as memory care, behavioral health units, or sub-acute care environments is advantageous. Certification in CPR and basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus. Strong communication skills tailored for caregiving roles that involve interaction with diverse patient populations including geriatric patients and children are necessary for success in this role.
