Duties Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and well-being. Support patient transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensure safe manual handling practices at all times. Administer medications as directed by licensed nursing staff, following strict protocols to maintain patient safety and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments, including memory care techniques. Assist with medical procedures including catheter care, phlebotomy (blood draws), and aseptic techniques during clinical tasks. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and legal requirements. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in various settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care environments. Support emergency situations in high-acuity environments like ICU or trauma centers by following established protocols for urgent care and critical care situations. Use patient transfer methods safely when moving individuals with mobility challenges or those requiring assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or gait belts. Qualifications Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program is required. Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities, or behavioral health needs is highly valued. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (CPR) is essential. Experience using EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation is preferred. Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers), or post-acute settings is advantageous. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams while maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA standards. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and adhere to safe lifting practices during patient transfers or manual handling tasks.
