Job Summary:
The Rehabilitation Care Technician (RCT), under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides delegated, age appropriate care, in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manger in the Rehabilitation Hospital. The RCT assists patients with the tasks outline in their clinical competency assessment related to basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services, and necessary rehabilitation skills. The RCT practices and performs what was taught during their CNA training and certification or learned during basic nursing courses at an accredited school for professional nurses. The RCT may be asked to provide continuous safety observation. This job reports to the Assistant Nurse Manager of the Rehabilitation Hospital and the RNs on duty on each assigned shift. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
Previous CNA experience is preferred.
EDUCATION PREFERRED
High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
TRAINING REQUIRED
Completion of the Critical Care Technician Rehabilitation course within six months
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Demonstrate strong verbal, nonverbal and written communication techniques. Must demonstrate effective listening skills.
LICENSURE REQUIRED
Current state of Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant Certification is required, otherwise must be currently enrolled in a nursing program and able to provide documentation from an accredited school for professional nurse indicating successful completion of the basic nursing course which encompasses all criteria noted by the State of Wisconsin administrative code and a minimum experience of one acute care medical/surgical clinical rotation. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
