Job Overview Encino Terrace is searching for a passionate Activities Director to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being among seniors. This role is essential in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and ensuring that all residents feel included and valued. Responsibilities Researches, evaluates, approves, develops and modifies community events and programs, according to resident interests. Prepares and publishes an engaging and creative monthly program calendar which incorporates the community's events and programs by the 1st of every month (ex. December calendar due Nov 1). Engages and motivates residnets resulting in program participation. Contributes to community growth by participating in sales activities. Manages departmental needs and goals within department budgets. Recruits, researches, and approves schedules and supervises programs leaders, general contractor entertainment, volunteers, religious professionals and vendors. Responsibly manages and supervises all active aging and transportation personnel including scheduling, assignment, direction, performance review (including input on pay adjustments), hiring and corrective action consistent with company policy. Collaborate with caregivers and nursing staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans, particularly for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments. Schedule and manage activities effectively, ensuring a balanced mix of physical, social, and creative opportunities. Communicate regularly with residents, families, and staff to gather feedback on activities and make necessary adjustments. Facilitate group outings and events that promote community engagement while ensuring the safety of all participants. Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programs regularly. Serves as the community's manager on duty on a regular basis. Determine and manage community resident transportation operation, including scheduling of outside events and similar operational decisions. Provide support to residents in their daily routines while promoting independence through engaging activities. Qualifications Experience in senior care or caregiving is preferred, particularly Able to think creatively and independently to meet worthwhile objectives. Able to be innovative to create and generate solutions and programs. Able to define realistic, specific goals and objectives. Strong schedule management skills to effectively coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. Excellent communication skills to interact positively with residents, families, and team members. Knowledge of recreational therapy practices and their application in enhancing the lives of seniors. A background in social work or related fields is a plus but not required. Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and creativity when working with diverse populations. Familiarity with dementia care principles is highly desirable. Refine communication and intrapersonal skills enabling effective communication with residents and other stakeholders.
