Job Description

Overall description: The Tail End Manager will oversee our adoptable-dog program and the interactions between dogs and guests, serving as the primary connection between our shelter partners, adoptable dogs, and customers. From selecting and facilitating transportation of dogs to preparing adoption documentation and managing day-to-day dog-human interactions, this role will ensure that every part of the experience supports successful adoptions and positive guest experiences. Though the health, safety, and well-being of the adoptable dogs will always be our highest priority, this position will also have a strong focus on customer service, guest experience, and successful adoptions. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable advocating for the needs of an animal, welcoming and educating guests, managing a busy environment, and navigating the unique dynamics that come with bringing dogs and people together in a hospitality setting. It will be essential to have an adaptable, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to embrace change, identify opportunities for improvement, and help build effective systems along the way. Qualifications 3+ years of experience handling and caring for dogs in a pack setting, or equivalent experience. Experience managing, supervising, or training staff is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of canine behavior, body language, group dynamics, and safe handling techniques. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 40+ pounds. Reliable transportation and punctual attendance. Schedule This position opens and closes the business as needed, covers gaps in shifts, and maintains office hours when necessary. During the first year, it is expected that this position will be a scheduled member on shift, working week-day, weekend, and Holidays shifts as needed, in order to support daily operations and develop a thorough understanding of the facility and its routines.
