Position Summary The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and success of the assisted living and memory care community. This position oversees all aspects of operations, including resident care and satisfaction, financial performance, regulatory compliance, sales and occupancy goals, employee engagement, risk management, and community relations. The Executive Director ensures the community provides a safe, high-quality living environment while achieving operational and financial objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and daily operational oversight of the community. Foster a culture of resident-centered care, accountability, teamwork, and service excellence. Ensure community operations comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, licensing requirements, and company policies. Develop and implement action plans to improve resident satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational performance. Conduct regular department head meetings and lead interdisciplinary team collaboration. Maintain a visible presence throughout the community and interact regularly with residents, families, and team members. Resident Care & Experience Promote exceptional resident care and customer service. Monitor resident satisfaction and address concerns promptly and professionally. Ensure residents receive quality services consistent with their care plans and organizational standards. Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure resident wellness and safety. Support resident retention initiatives and family engagement programs. Financial Management Oversee community budgeting, financial performance, and expense management. Monitor and improve occupancy, revenue, labor costs, operating expenses, and net operating income (NOI). Review monthly financial statements and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure accurate billing practices and timely collection of receivables. Manage purchasing and capital expenditure projects in accordance with company guidelines. Sales & Census Development Partner with the Sales and Marketing Director to achieve occupancy and census goals. Monitor sales activities, lead conversion rates, move-ins, and resident retention efforts. Support outreach activities and develop strong referral relationships within the local market. Participate in community marketing events and networking opportunities. Human Resources & Employee Relations Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing team members. Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to meet resident needs. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development. Promote employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives. Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and workplace standards. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Maintain survey readiness and compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements. Lead investigations and corrective actions related to incidents, complaints, and regulatory findings. Ensure appropriate documentation and reporting processes are followed. Oversee emergency preparedness, safety programs, and risk management initiatives. Community Relations Establish positive relationships with residents, families, referral sources, vendors, and community stakeholders. Represent the organization in a professional manner within the local community. Promote the organization's mission, vision, and values. QualificationsEducation Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Social Services, Nursing, or related field preferred. State-specific administrator licensure or certification as required. Experience Minimum of three to five years of senior leadership experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or a related industry. Proven experience managing budgets, staffing, regulatory compliance, and customer service initiatives. Assisted living and memory care leadership experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership and team development skills. Knowledge of assisted living regulations and standards. Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and operational metrics. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound business decisions. Proficient in Microsoft Office and senior living management software.
