A Nursing Instructor or Professor teaches nursing students with a combination of classroom instruction and clinical training. Teaches academic subjects needed as the foundation for nursing, such as anatomy and chemistry, and also job skills required for direct patient care. The School of Nursing at the University of West Florida (UWF), Pensacola, Florida invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Lecturer position (#124250) . We seek colleagues who are passionate about teaching the next generation of nurses in our rapidly growing onsite pre-licensure program. Is interested in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. The salary for this in-person, non-tenure eligible position will be commensurate with experience.
Primary responsibilities include:
Primarily be assigned to the pre-licensure nursing program and will teach in the classroom, online, and clinical settings on the Pensacola campus and at local community partner locations. Use of technology in the classroom and online, and teaching students in a broad range of clinical settings that align with the faculty member's expertise. This position may be assigned to teach in the RN to BSN, MSN, or FNP programs based on departmental needs. The Bachelor of Science (BSN) and Master of Science (MSN) programs are accredited by the American Association of College of Nursing (CCNE), reflecting our commitment to high standards in nursing education. Minimum qualifications for the position include having earned a master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution, or a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in a closely related field. Holds an unrestricted Florida license as a Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida. One or more years' work experience as a Registered Nurse in one of the following specialties: acute care, medical surgical, pediatrics, or mental health nursing. Preferred qualifications for this position include: Earned a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) in nursing, education, or a health-related field from an accredited institution. One or more years' work experience teaching pre-licensure students in the classroom and clinical setting. Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. The ability to incorporate evidence-based teaching strategies for higher education into course delivery. Familiarity with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials. Experience with curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate level. Knowledge and understanding of the NCLEX test plan.
