1001274 Academic Instruction Adjunct postings are filled based on enrollment. Key Position Information:
A minimum of two (2) years of proven recent surgical technology experience (clinical coordinator). Possess a CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements by the ARCSTSA.
Position Summary:
An adjunct faculty member at SPC has the primary function of instruction, coaching and student development. Secondary functions include assisting the college in developing and maintaining a quality program of instruction, providing service to the college and continuing professional development.
Requirements:
Education:
Associate Degree required and a minimum of two (2) years of proven recent surgical technology experience (clinical coordinator).
Experience:
Adjunct Faculty must be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency. Adjunct Faculty must be qualified by education and experience and must be effective in teaching the subjects assigned
Knowledge:
Managerial principles and practices Academic program requirements Customer service principles Presentation principles and practices Diverse populations and cultures Computers and related software applications
Skills:
Experience in online instruction or technology enhanced instruction Strong written and verbal communication skills Using a computer and related software applications
Responsibilities:
Faculty with instructional responsibilities in core surgical technology must:
  • Possess a CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Have a recent minimum of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years. - All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements by the ARCSTSA (Accreditation Review Council on Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting).
  • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).
  • This position requires current knowledge and technical practice skills as a Surgical Technologist
  • Experience with student counseling and coaching in the three domains of learning (cognitive=thinking/critical thinking, affective=emotion and feeling, and psychomotor=physical/kinesthetic).
  • Experience teaching adults in a community college setting and or clinical coordination experience is preferred.
