Job Description

Statement of Primary Purpose Provide high quality instructional services to nursing students in classroom, lab, and clinical environments across all nursing programs. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, facilitating skills instruction, supervising students in clinical settings, and evaluating student performance to ensure the development of safe and competent nursing practice. The instructor will support student learning through effective teaching strategies, mentorship, and timely feedback while maintaining compliance with program standards, accreditation requirements, and clinical partner expectations. Collaboration with faculty and clinical partners to support curriculum delivery, student success, and program outcomes is expected. •This position works the 9 month academic year plus the 8 week summer session. Classification Curriculum faculty, full-time, exempt. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Participate in curriculum advisory committee meetings, if applicable Participate in college events and activities Attend college commencements Cooperate in scheduled student evaluations of instructor and course Keep regular posted office hours in accordance with college policy Submit all college reports in an accurate, timely fashion Attend instructor and departmental meetings as scheduled Be responsible for professional development and maintaining professional competence Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others Serve on college standing committees and attend meetings Assist in the selection of new practical nursing cohorts annually Assist in student recruitment, advising, registration, and retention Assist in the selection and ordering of equipment, supplies, and textbooks Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course outlines and published course schedule Maintain accurate records for each course taught Prepare, review, and update course outlines on a regular basis Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as necessary Provide clinical education duties as assigned Assign and grade clinical education assignments and paperwork Additional Duties and Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education Required:
BSN with a commitment to obtain MSN within 3 years or Teaching and Learning certificate or another method of compliance with NCBON rule 21 NCAC 36 .0318-C.5 is required prior to hire or within 3 years of hire.
Preferred:
MSN Knowledge and Skills 2 years of clinical nursing experience is required; community college teaching experience is preferred. Two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse. Knowledge of current nursing practice for registered and licensed practical nurses. Current CPR certification (BLS), qualifying TB test in the last year, vaccinations up to date (titers or waivers accepted for some), or ability to complete clinical onboarding requirements in a timely manner. Physical Demands Standing is required with Instructor-led courses and clinical instruction. Emotional, mental, and physical demands typical of an acute care nursing environment. Licensing Requirement Unencumbered North Carolina RN License or Multistate Compact. Valid NC Driver's License Working Conditions and Environment Typical campus environment. Travel for training and clinical visits as necessary. Health care clinical, simulation labs, or educational environment. Equipment Operation PC, copier, phones, standard office, and educational applications. Nursing equipment.
