Summary:

Under limited supervision and reporting directly to the Vice President of Specialty Clinics, works in conjunction with the Nursing Leadership of ANTHC to provide oversight to Specialty Clinics nursing staff for nursing practice standards and delivery of care.

Responsibilities:

Develops and monitors nursing programs, implements quality assurance measures and recommends continual improvements. Collaborates and assists professional staff to achieve sustainable quality improvements. Provides Specialty Clinics support to the leadership on clinical, quality and nursing care policies and initiatives that affect Specialty Clinic operations. Provides the Specialty Clinics with strong collaborative nursing leadership that represents the division in the various clinical committees and workgroups that exist throughout the ANTHC tribal health system. Director represents Specialty Clinics issues and ensures all information from ANMC Nursing Councils and Committees are provided to all nursing staff assigned to Specialty Clinics. Subject matter expert in using our Electronic Health Care Record and nursing standards of documentation for the outpatient departments. Responsible for the coordination of nursing education within the division. Coordinates and supports general nursing competency education and training for the Specialty Clinics. Clinical expertise in compliance and The Joint Commission standards as it pertains to the divisions nursing scope of practice and functionality. Assists in maximizing efficiency and effectiveness as appropriate, which may include but is not limited to ensuring customer/patient satisfaction and loyalty, developing and assisting in clinical improvements, productive measures, producing appropriate documentation and coding. Fosters open communication and encourages the expression of ideas and opinions. Listens well, prepares and delivers clear presentations, and effectively conveys information through formal and informal verbal and written communication. Understands current and long term ANTHC Corporate plans and formulates strategies and action plans to achieve the goals of the organization. Determines division and department objectives, sets priorities and anticipates potential threats and opportunities. Creates an environment of continuous improvement. Encourages strong nursing morale by promoting personal investment and excellence. Builds effective teams committed to organization goals, fosters collaboration, and encourages and empowers others to excel. Accurately assesses the strengths and developmental needs of staff and provides timely, constructive feedback to contribute to and promote development. Maintains efficient office and clinic workflow for small clinics that are less than three (3) providers to ensure productivity of staff and processes. Continuously evaluates systems, policies, and procedures and implements necessary improvements to ensure clinical efficiency. Continuously improves clinical operations to meet and exceed customer requirements. Maintains and encourages a patient-centered clinical focus. Partners with Specialty Leadership to recruit and manage nursing staff. Works closely with HR and ANMC Nurse Recruiting Specialist to identify Specialty Clinics nurse requirements as well as candidates who may be ideally suited for Specialty Clinic nurse staff openings. Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Tribal law, regulations, rules, policies and processes. Knowledge of relevant specialized fields such as Federal Indian law and self-determination/self-governance, health law, employment law & construction law. Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s) and politics. Knowledge of JCAHO standards and applicable standards of healthcare service delivery organizations. MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION A

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Non Supervisory - Five (5) years' relevant experience in the management of ambulatory services and/or programs. Has held administrative position in a large academic or complex health program that included clinical operations AND Supervisory - Three (3) years involving employee supervision of ambulatory care personnel.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse license. Certification in Basic Life Support.

PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
