This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with strong clinical skills and leadership abilities who thrives in a procedural environment and is passionate about delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Under the direction of the Unit Director/Clinical Manager, the Charge Nurse provides direct patient care while serving as a clinical resource, role model, mentor, and shift leader. This position is responsible for coordinating staffing and patient care, supporting the Endoscopy team, and helping ensure safe and efficient daily operations. The Charge Nurse will work with a diverse patient population, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn patients . Key Responsibilities Coordinate patient care and staffing assignments based on patient needs, staff competency, and daily Endoscopy caseload Provide direct patient care and independently perform unit-specific clinical skills Serve as a clinical resource, role model, mentor, and trainer for Endoscopy staff Coordinate staffing needs, breaks, lunches, and staff assignments to maintain appropriate patient care coverage Monitor staffing and patient volumes and flex staff up or down as needed Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and overall patient flow as appropriate Coordinate with the Clinical Manager, Department Director, Staffing Coordinator, Nursing Supervisor, and Administration as needed Ensure appropriate staff response to emergency and "Code" situations Troubleshoot patient care and physician issues to promote patient safety and minimize procedural delays Assist with patient care as needed to support safe care delivery and staff coverage Maintain awareness of the Endoscopy schedule and ensure appropriate staffing throughout the shift Support staff development, orientation, competency validation, and training Maintain current clinical knowledge and competency in Endoscopy nursing Identify quality improvement opportunities and encourage staff participation in QA/PI initiatives Assist leadership by providing input for employee performance evaluations Complete required chart audits and quality assurance activities accurately and on time Prepare and coordinate the monthly Endoscopy on-call schedule for leadership approval Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards Endoscopy-Specific Responsibilities Make daily assignments based on patient volume, procedural schedule, and individual patient needs Support the Endoscopy team in maintaining efficient patient flow and minimizing procedural delays Assist with troubleshooting clinical and operational issues that arise during procedures Ensure staff have appropriate support and resources throughout the shift Coach and assist staff as needed based on their roles, experience, and competency Monitor the Endoscopy schedule to anticipate staffing and patient care needs Participate in required Endoscopy competencies and maintain proficiency in unit-specific clinical skills What We're Looking For Current California Registered Nurse (RN) License Minimum 2 years of unit-specific clinical experience or approval from the Unit Director Demonstrated leadership skills and effective communication Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment Ability to prioritize multiple and competing responsibilities Strong understanding of medication dosage and solution calculations Basic computer skills and familiarity with healthcare systems Ability to serve as a resource, mentor, and clinical leader for other nursing staff Certifications Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
  • required ACLS Certification
  • required or must be obtained within 6 months of assignment to the department National certification may be required for Charge RN as the employee's primary position, with the applicable timeframe determined by department leadership Work Environment & Expectations Full-time schedule, 6:30 AM
